Chat & Tasks

After signing in you land in SynWork's “Chat & Tasks” — your main entry point for working with the AI. Ask questions or assign tasks the way you would in a chat.

Home

• Workspace switchThe “SynWork / InThoth” tabs in the top left move you between general collaboration and science & process with a single click.
• Three summary cards“Pending approvals / My to-dos / Today's schedule” show how many items need your attention. Select a number to jump to that list.
• Capability cardsCards such as “Resume last, Continue task, Translate, Use an assistant…” start common scenarios in one click. If you are not sure where to begin, start here.
• Conversation tools“Documents / Panel / Task thread / Share / Capture knowledge” in the top right are tools for the current conversation; use them as the conversation unfolds.
• Left navigation & composerThe left side lists your projects and recent conversations. Pick a model in the composer at the bottom and start typing.

Composer toolbar

The row of small icons under the composer gathers the switches you reach for most often when starting a conversation. Open them as you need them.

• Attach ＋Upload files (documents, images, spreadsheets) so the AI can answer from your own material.
• Commands /Type “/” to open the command menu for quick actions such as clearing the conversation or switching models.
• RoleBind a digital employee to this conversation so the AI answers in that role. The default is the general assistant.
• Thinking mode / Tool confirm / Cross-check / Intent confirmThinking mode = the model reasons before it answers (slower, uses more quota); Tool confirm = actions such as running a tool or sending are checked with you first; Cross-check = a second model plus evidence reviews this answer; Intent confirm = when the request is ambiguous or a mistake would be costly, it asks one clarifying question first (on by default).
• Model / Quota / Voice / SendOn the right you choose the model tier, see your remaining quota, and can dictate by voice. Select send (or press Enter) when you are done.

Command menu

Select the “/” icon on the left of the composer to open the command menu. It gathers conversation actions, model switching, and shortcuts into settings, and you can filter it by typing a keyword.

• Clear this conversationClears the messages but keeps the conversation — use it to start over on the same topic.
• Compact the contextManually condense an over-long history into a summary. This saves quota and avoids exceeding the model's context window.
• Switch modelMove between Cortex1.0 Lite and Pro. Use Lite for simple questions and Pro for complex work.
• Thinking modeWhen on, the AI reasons before it answers — good for hard problems. When off, answers come back faster.
• Settings / Tools / SkillsThe shortcuts at the bottom of the menu take you straight to the matching settings page.

Roles (digital employees)

Select “Role” to bind a digital employee to the current conversation. The AI then answers in that role's voice, with that role's expertise.

• General assistant (default)No specific role. Suitable for everyday conversation and miscellaneous tasks.
• How to chooseSelect an employee from the list. Each one comes with a description of its responsibilities — pick the closest fit.
• Management rolesDigital CEO, CEO assistant, HR assistant, project manager, digital CFO, and other management and collaboration roles.
• Research rolesLab operations assistant, pharmacovigilance officer, safety physician, medical writer, biostatistician, clinical data manager, computational biologist, and more.
• When to use oneBind a role when you need a specialist perspective or a consistent style. You can switch back to the general assistant at any time.

All 18 digital employees and their responsibilities are below. Pick the closest fit when binding a role; roles marked “reference, not decisions” produce output for reference only, not as the basis for a final decision.

Conversation tools · Documents

“Documents” in the top right of the conversation collects every file this conversation produced or referenced, so you can retrieve them at any time.

• OpenSelect “Documents” in the top right to open the list of files related to this conversation.
• What each row showsFile name, size, and time. Reports also carry a version number (for example v9).
• Preview / Share / DownloadThree buttons on the right of each file: preview online, share with someone, or download a copy.
• What it is forQuickly finding files the AI generated, or files you uploaded or referenced during the conversation.

Conversation tools · Panel

“Panel” is a drawer on the right that shows, in real time, the background tasks this conversation has started.

• OpenSelect “Panel” in the top right of the conversation to open the “Background tasks” drawer.
• What it showsTasks started by this conversation that are still running. When there are none it shows “Nothing here yet”.
• ControlsThe top of the drawer lets you refresh, go full screen, or close it.
• What it is forKeeping an eye on long-running work while you carry on with the conversation.

“Task thread” pins the goal and milestones of a long task so the AI keeps working towards them instead of drifting.

• OpenSelect “Task thread” in the top right of the conversation to open the panel.
• Draft a threadSelect “＋ Pin the goal and milestones of a long task · Draft thread” and the AI breaks the work into a goal and staged milestones.
• What it doesKeeps a multi-turn conversation aligned with the goal, so nothing drifts or gets dropped.
• When to use itBest for complex work that spans many turns and needs to progress in stages.
